Robert O. 'Bob' Bechtel

Robert O. ‘Bob’ Bechtel, 91, of Odon, Indiana went to Heaven on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 in Washington, Indiana. He was born on May 8, 1929 in Elnora, Indiana to Walter H. and Hazel (Bowers) Bechtel. Bob married the love of his life, Genevieve (Speer) Bechtel on May 29, 1952.

Bob was a member of the Odon Nazarene Church. He worked for Odon Feed Mill, was a dairy truck driver and retired from Scepter Industries in 1993. Bob coached boy’s little league baseball and was a North Daviess, IU basketball and Cardinals baseball, sports fan. He loved southern gospel music.

Family left to cherish the memory of Bob include: his wife, Ginny; five sons, Gary (Erin) Bechtel of Rockville, Mark (Cynthia) Bechtel of Bloomington, Jim (Jamie) Bechtel of Bedford, Tim (Colleen) Bechtel of Glide, OR and Keith (Lora) Bechtel of Odon; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Gene, Bill, Charles, Don and John Bechtel; sister, Marge Roberts; grandson, Matthew Bechtel; great-grandson, Rowan Breeden and great-granddaughter, Paitynn Fellers.

Funeral services to honor the life of Bob will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at Odon Nazarene Church with Chris Hughes officiating. Bob will be laid to rest at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Odon.

Family and friends may call from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon.

Memorial contributions may be made to Odon Nazarene Church in memory of Bob.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and at the church.

Following CDC guidelines, face masks will be required and continue with social distancing please.
