Robert Hayes, Jr.

Robert ‘Danny’ Hayes, Jr., 75 of Odon, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 15, 2020 at his residence with his family by his side. He was born on September 1, 1944 to Robert D. Hayes, Sr., and Sylvia (Wilson) Hayes. Danny married his loving wife, Vickie Sue Parsons on December 22, 1963.

Danny was a member of the Odon United Methodist Church, Odon VFW, Odon American Legion, Odon Lions Club, Odon Masonic Lodge and Odon Eastern Star.  He was in the Navy, serving in Vietnam, 1963 through 1965.  He retired in the year 2000 from Crane Naval Base after 35 years.

Those left to cherish the memory of Danny include: his loving wife, Vickie; daughter, Robin Knepp of Odon; son, Tracey (Debbie) Hayes of Loogootee; three grandchildren, Adara (Ryan) Batchelor of Montgomery, Taylor Hayes of Greenfield and Talan Hayes of Loogootee; two great-grandchildren, Aryah and Ryder Batchelor of Montgomery; two sisters, Sondra Brown and Rosanna Reed, both of Odon.

Danny was preceded in death by: his parents.

There will be a private family service at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 19, 2020 at Meng Family Funeral Home with Pastor Debbie Payne and Rick Parson officiating.  Danny will be laid to rest at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon followed by military rites by the Odon VFW Post 9627.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made in memory of Danny to Ketcham Memorial Center or Odon United Methodist Church.
