William Crane Obituary

William L. Crane, 84 of Elnora, IN, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, June 20th.   He was born on September 19, 1935, to Ray and Della (Overton) Crane of Elnora. Bill married Margie L. Perkins on May 6, 1956.

They had one son, Roger W Crane of Bloomfield (wife, Connie) and three daughters, Rhonda L Crane Hauenstein of Tell City (husband John), Cheryl R Crane Andrews of Westfield and Carla I Crane Alexander of Pittsboro (husband Ernie).   He has 9 grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters.

His parents, 2 brothers, Rex and Warren, and 3 sisters Neva, Louise and Earnestine and his grand-daughter, Tori K Hauenstein and a daughter-in-law Bonnie Crane proceed him in death.

Bill lived a full life, loved being a farmer and running a jersey dairy business.  He was a school bus driver for over 20 years at North Daviess HS.   For years, he took his garden items to Bloomington Farmers Market.  His work life ended at NDHS as a custodian where he enjoyed being around the kids. He always had a good time socializing and could he talk your leg off. His family meant the world to him.   Family gatherings were one of his favorites as was the Elnora Fair.
He was a member and deacon at Odon Christian Church where he attended for over 40 years. The last 15 months were challenging for him as he was in and out of hospital multiple times and lived with his daughter for 8 months in Westfield prior to spending the last 3 months as a resident of Ketcham Memorial. He was ready to head to his heavenly home as his body and mind were failing him. He was a pillar of faith and strength to his family.   He will be dearly missed by all that knew him but we will rejoice in heaven when we meet again.

Funeral services honoring Bill’s life will be held at 2:00 PM EST on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Odon Christian Church with Pastor Micah Stephen officiating. Bill will be laid to rest in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon. Family and friends may call from 12:00 PM noon EST until the time of service at 2:00 PM EST on Thursday at the church.
